Hi Saxan There is no harm in going for 9.04 . It is a stable version Your Ram and hard disk space is comfortable for ur corporate web server
For partitions normally what I follow is that , I keep a separate partitions for /var and /home which takes most of my harddisk space . This is for me to do backup and admin . If you are not comfortable with manual partitions choose the default installation Also checking on Howtoforge site will be good This google links may help u http://www.google.com/search?q=ubuntu+9.04+perfect+server&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=com.ubuntu:en-US:unofficial&client=firefox-a http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=com.ubuntu%3Aen-US%3Aunofficial&hs=JQG&q=ubuntu+9.04+perfect++APACHE+server&aq=f&oq=&aqi= --- On Thu, 2/7/09, saxan rappai <[email protected]> wrote: > From: saxan rappai <[email protected]> > Subject: [ILUG-Cochin.org] suggestions Required to set up server with Ubuntu > 9.04 > To: "This List discusses GNU/Linux & GNU, GPL Software" > <[email protected]> > Date: Thursday, 2 July, 2009, 11:02 AM > > Dear all, > > Iam planning to set up a web-server locally for my office > and i got a ubuntu 9.04 Cd with me.. but i have a doubt > that if i install this version whether there will be any > problem with apache server beacuse previously 6 months back > when i tried to install uduntu 8.1 in my local machine, > Apache server got some problems with that version and i was > not able to rectify the problem and i went for 8.04 and it > worked perfectly. .. > > on this machine i need > 1.
