In order to see the problem i created a fat partition (type=b) , edited 
/et/c/fstab with the following
 
/dev/hda6    /media/hda6   vfat  rw,users,noauto ,umask=000           0 0
 
restarted
 
when i check /dev/hda6 is not mounted.
 
To mount the partition i did
 
mount /dev/hda6  
 
checked with df -h
 
it is showing the partition mounted.
 
I didnt see any problems 
 
May be the problem related partitioning.
