This is the prblm you just want hear Kenny. In our college (MEC) you need to present a project which is either "geeky" or which has something to with "core" stuff? I donno what core stuff they mean.
Web projects get denied easily, Working on GNU projects are not allowed.. *Explanations for web projects:* You can do anything with php and mysql.. They say any mechanical student can do it. The important fact over here is they don't even bother to understand what the "it" is. Most teachers we are dealing with have just text book knowledge, no offence meant. Another thing they say about web projects is, they say that there is no "computational complexity" in them.. I can't understand that. What I think is for them Web is just html and php. *GNU projects:* You have the code. WTF? They want something build from scratch that will just remain as a college project. They never see the better side of things. Seriously I got angry when I heard this from a junior that improving existing GNU projects are not allowed. I personally had this problem getting my major project a web based project approved.. The problem is most teachers don't understand the value of the product we are presenting.. Most of them have no interest in even hearing what we are telling. It took around 3-4 months to make my project in-charge to "understand" our project. But I personally doubt if she has understood anything what we told. -- In search for making better search results.
