I' ve also tried -- nofb vga=none .That also was unsuccessful My Graphics Card details : 00:05.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C51 [GeForce 6150 LE] (rev a2)
I've succeeded in installing with nomodeset and after installation edited grub menu by pressing "e" and deleted quiet and splash and added "nomodeset" there and booted with Cntrl+x and I was able to go to text mode (Cntrl+Alt+F1). I've selected ext3 instead of ext4. The language that I had selected was Malayalam for installation.When I tried to login graphically the error shown was in Malayalam and it goes thus ക്രമീകരണ സെറ്വറില് ഒരു കുഴപ്പമുണ്ട്. C/usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 256 സ്ഥിതിയുമായി നിര്ത്തി ഇറങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു. I also tried to copy the an xorg.conf file copy from ubuntu 9.10 to /etc/X11 and restarted gdm and that too didn't give any result.
