Hello all,

Why is it that the group that supports and stands for Freedom, do not
provide the basic Freedom of speech and expression? I read that those
planning to take a session on the anniversary day were to abide by this
rule:' presentations must not talk/promote/mention/discuss about proprietary
software
unless it becomes totally impossible to continue the topic without
discussing'
If Libre user group doesn't give its members the basic Freedom, who else
willl?

Let me ask you, how many of the members would be using a distro listed in
www.gnu.org/distros ? Most of us either use Debian, Ubuntu etc. Once I
happened to visit ILUG-Cochin meetup. When I returned home, I received a
mail from one member to my personal mail id asking me not to mingle with
certain people I met at the meetup as they are paid spies of Microsoft. Now
that was the greatest hit on Freedom(n that was hilarious too in many
aspects)

Quoting Stallman here,"We are working for THEIR(people new to GNU/Linux, and
those who are presently using proprietary software) FREEDOM, after all.
Being harsh
with them is not going to help convince them.

However, the place we need to be firm is when people present nonfree
software
as a solution. We need to reject that, firmly, so that we show people
what is the problem and what is the solution.

But we should do that without making uninformed people feel bad."

Hope the Libre user group gives its members their Freedom!:)

Regards,
Dibu
