These threads do not try to address the legal compatibility problem at all. There are more than two opinions on the derivative works issue and no resolution ... so it would be better to leave the discussion there. The discussion on lwn is also of interest. The other point was about the basics of knowledge commons ... the BSD people do not usually share the ideas. But has anybody attempted a hybrid view? Best A. Mani -- A.
