again and again you are speaking from a limited experience I guess. You say about "some thing". It is just the opposite for "some other thing" again it depends on the mindset. If you don't have an open mind set the first system/technique/environment you learned can be a hindrance to later. That necessariliy is not a problem of the later rather the induvidual. > also systems like Debian (I admit we are tied to certain versions;but who > wants cutting edge on a production system ) gets things done more elegantly > with less user interaction ;) . > such as? I wonder this comes from the mouth of a sysadmin. "so more the eyeballs..lesser the bugs" good to hear, but not always because the eyes should be alert. Let us put this to test. http://www.securityfocus.com/archive/1 go there and see how many bugs linux had to fix just because of lousy programming? I can give examples but i have reserved for a separate thread for itself. I would adress all these issues one by one. to give a perfect example just for now http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/05/13/1533212 http://www.debian.org/security/2008/dsa-1571 This stuff was taken from the OpenBSD project and brought under the many eyes of GNU developers? Frankly I use Debian/Ubuntu witha sense of fear now though I like apt and friends > > As I said BSD is good ;but its not the best .we buy a car to drive and not > to repair it everyday..thinking in that sense ..debian is much better than > *BSD > just because og apt I guess have you heard of pkgin? It does the same in BSD same flags too as apt mostly. --Siju _______________________________________________ Indian Libre User Group Cochin Mailing List http://www.ilug-cochin.org/mailing-list/ http://mail.ilug-cochin.org/mailman/listinfo/mailinglist_ilug-cochin.org #[email protected]
