Hello

Try these commands

*gnome-session-remove gnome-panel
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel
gnome-panel &*

from gnome terminal.This will get you the default panel back...

If not working completely remove your gnome-panel using
apt-get or synaptic and then install it back.
This should anyway solve your problem.
