It's the holiday season, many people are buying gifts. Gifts for co-workers, friends, family and even strangers. To give you some idea of why we made this list, I recently received a gift from a stranger -- a proprietary video game for Windows. What was intended as an innocent gift from a well-wishing anonymous giver was actually an instrument of DRM. What kind of DRM, I don't know, but that the game proudly announces online activation is an indication that there's some. And so, we decided to help out this season and provide another list in the spirit of not-giving, for the DRM-conscious giver out there: * <http://www.defectivebydesign.org/nobuyguide> Please send us your ideas and suggestions (and well-wishes) this holiday season: [email protected] or help us continue our work by joining the Free Software Foundation as an associate member, or by making a donation online: * <http://www.fsf.org/appeal/2010/join> In solidarity (and cheer), - Matt, John and Peter The DRM Elimination Crew DefectiveByDesign.org is a project of the Free Software Foundation -- Fifty One Franklin Street, Fifth Floor Boston, 02110 _______________________________________________ Indian Libre User Group Cochin Mailing List http://www.ilug-cochin.org/mailing-list/ http://mail.ilug-cochin.org/mailman/listinfo/mailinglist_ilug-cochin.org #[email protected]
