Has anyone been working on Debian/Ubuntu packages? Debian Jessie/testing will be frozen Nov 5th and the package should be in unstable for at least two weeks (Oct 24th). It's a bit late to make it into the upcoming Ubuntu release, but it would be nice have packages available in a Launchpad PPA (Personal Package Archive).
