doesn't this idea (baked vs. fried) seem to be a perfect setup for mailing list archives?
one of my big frustrations with mhonarc is it builds all of the archives every time you update a file or add a message, and changing your look and feel is a horrendous problem. Lots of CPU goes to maknig stuff ready in case someone wants something.
Wouldn't archives make more sense doing a "build when requested" model instead?
