Sorry, for postfix indeed it might be much easier to do it this way:

the only change between non-verp and verp call to the SMTP server is to
replace
        MAIL FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
by
        MAIL FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> XVERP=+=
