        I'm not sure I understand.  Are you talking about integrating the 
MTA into Mailman, so that it can directly access the list of allowed 
senders for a given mailing list and take appropriate action for 
other addresses before actually accepting a message?

        It seems to me that this concept is moving even further towards 
the "kitchen sink" approach, where one group has to have complete 
control over all aspects of the system.
