The status is whatever is posted to the bug. The people who are following the bug may be working on it but most likely are hoping to hear somebody is fixing it. If you're interested in working on it tell us what you propose to do to fix it (even if at the moment that's limited to "studying postorius code", which you should already have checked out ;-).
