Just curious... do you issue:
postmap /usr/local/mailman/data/virtual-mailman
Because, if you don't, it's not hashed. (check for the existence of
/usr/local/mailman/data/virtual-mailman.db--if it doesn't exist, you're
not postmap'ing it.)
