Upon finding tracebacks in the mailman/logs/error file I decided to run

I've started going back through old backup tapes but apparently these
have been missing for some extended period of time. Is there an easy
way to reconstruct these without nuking my list (which has been running
for some 10 years now) - I don't want to loose history.

You don't need any config.db files. Those are holdovers from much older versions of Mailman, and when you first upgraded to a more modern version of Mailman they would have been converted over to config.pck "pickle" files.

Those error messages are red herrings. Don't be fooled. You're only seeing those error messages at all because you did a "check_db -v" instead of the normal "check_db".
