  Actually you also need to adjust the cron entry.

  Overall, if you have a debian machine, installing the mailman Debian
  package first and then setup the virtual environment to get a newer
  version of Mailman seems a practical approach to running Mailman with
  maximum reliance on Debian-provided components.
