When I first was investigating Mailman I read enough of the site to see that Postfix was probably the best bet. It sounded like Barry was running it, which meant that Mailman would always work with Postfix! So I installed RedHat and Postfix, and then setup Mailman.
I still run Sendmail for my main mailserver, although I sometimes wish I didn't, but as complex as Sendmail is I'm very glad I could make the Mailman setup so simple by putting it in a box with Postfix.
