Shouldn't be necessary, as it's implied in the ScriptAlias directive. That said, I've tried it both with and without that option in the <Directory>, and it made no difference.

I must concede that I don't know Apache as well as I would like. Can you confirm that this is not the redirect problem, as discussed in <http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py?req=show&file=faq04.045.htp>?
