You are aware that the "list owner" and "list moderator" are now two seperate
identities and that after your upgrade you need to access the admin page for
each list and fill in the email address for "moderator" which will be blank. ?

Yes, but it appears (at least in my experience) that if you leave the moderator line empty the list owner is the default moderator. That is how it works on my lists (I have my own installation that my company offers -- no problems here -- the problem was another installation on a customer machine that we support but do not own)

thanks

this happened to me too when i upgraded to 2.1.5

Hi

I have a mailman installation I am responisible for (2.1.5). The list
owners do not get any administrative emails (like pending requests).
However, the same email addresses subscribed to lists get the list
traffic fine and the people get all their normal emails ok. So the
problem seems to lie with Mailman.

Presumption, not proven.

Here is an example from the smtp-failure log file, which I believe is
all this admin stuff

Oct 11 11:30:41 2004 (1875) delivery to [EMAIL PROTECTED] failed with
code 451: Temporary local problem - please try later

{'[EMAIL PROTECTED]': (451, 'Temporary local problem - please try
later')}, msgid: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The smtp failures being reported in Mailman's logs appear to be just the responses it is getting from the SMTP server it has been told to talk to, i.e. the MTA is reporting a not very explicit temporary failure to Mailman. Does the SMTP server's logs contain any more info as to why it is refusing these messages?

Again, this seems to only affect notices for the admin like pending
requests etc. [EMAIL PROTECTED] (and it happens with everyone who is a
list owner it appears) gets mail from Mailman as a list user and
normal non Mailman mail just fine.

I think this happened when we upgradede from 2.0.8 or something in
that era to 2.1.5

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Chad
