There are several ways to do this.
If you have shell access on the server, I think the easiest is to:
1. become the mailman user
2. change to the mailman/data directory
3. use the bin/discard tool to discard the held messages:
../bin/discard heldmsg-thelist-*
The Mailman FAQ lists (at least) a couple of other ways.
