Yes, but it's not a good idea to put it in the distribution, at least not without a lot of careful hedging about and making it an option defaulting to off. You can't even being sure that From_ lines will be consistent within a single mbox. See http://www.jwz.org/doc/content-length.html I think the better approach is to do just what you did, and make a site-specific script to do From-munging. Of course there's nothing wrong with putting them in a contrib section in the distribution; my worry is about changing bin/arch.
