I do not see why you would want the system to generate a list admin password when you create the list. The bin/newlist script wants you to generate a password. If Mailman were to generate a random password, how would it tell you what it was? You need that password to do any list administration via the web. I am not sure that I would want a random password for a list admin, as it would be hard to remember. When I, as Mailman administrator, create a new list for someone, either the requestor gives me the password, or I choose a password and let the requestor change it.
