I have been following this thread and had hoped to find a solution to my
problem, but seems it's ended without the answer I expected:-)
In my situation (several live lists), I get this error when I make a search
for a word I am very sure is there:

<cut>
htdig Archives Access Failure search failed -12-

If you want to make another attempt to access a list archive then go via the
list users information
page<http://lists.kictanet.or.ke/mailman//listinfo/kictanet>.

If this problem persists then please e-mail the following information to the
mail...@lists.kictanet.or.ke:

    http://lists.kictanet.or.ke/pipermail/kictanet/
    /mailman/mmsearch/kictanet

</cut>

Here is the page (it is public anyway):
http://lists.kictanet.or.ke/pipermail/kictanet/

What could be the cause??

I have Mailman-2.1.13.
