I've often wanted to know the URL of a specific message in an archive of a Mailman list so that I could refer to it in a later message. Unless I'm missing something, finding the URL requires manually going to the archive and searching for the message even if I happen to have it in front of me in my mail client. I can't directly derive the archive URL just from looking at the message header or body in the mail client.
Can Mailman include the web archive URL for a message in the message header itself? Say in something like a "X-This-Message-In-Archive" header or perhaps in a footer in the body? I've never noticed this in a Mailman list and I don't know if it is possible but it seems like something that would be quite useful. It would save manual steps when people need to refer to an existing message. Apologies if this is possible and I've just missed it (or if it's not turned on by most lists). As far as I can see, Mailman should have all the info it needs to be able to add such a header or footer field. -- Mark Rousell PGP public key: http://www.signal100.com/markr/pgp Key ID: C9C5C162 ------------------------------------------------------ Mailman-Users mailing list Mailman-Users@python.org https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users Mailman FAQ: http://wiki.list.org/x/AgA3 Security Policy: http://wiki.list.org/x/QIA9 Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users%40python.org/ Unsubscribe: https://mail.python.org/mailman/options/mailman-users/archive%40jab.org
