How is the search implemented in their current version? If they are
using the patches referenced at
<https://bugs.launchpad.net/mailman/+bug/266554>, versions of these
patches for all recent Mailman versions can be found at
<http://www.msapiro.net/mm/>.

In any case, Archive search has never been part of Mailman's officially
released Pipermail. It has always been accomplished by third party
patches of some sort. See <http://wiki.list.org/x/MoA9>.
