I've seen similar- check both the sender and envelope addresses in the original message (you may have to ask for a sample). Sometimes, the sender will be 'sen...@domain.com' but the outgoing MTA will slip in 'sen...@other.domain.com', which then isn't a list member. Or the reverse- user and list have 'sen...@other.domain.com' and the MTA rewrites that as 'sen...@domain.com'.
