External Email The theory is these may be legitimate bounces that just aren't recognized and the owner may want to see them and may even want to report them to the developers so the recognizers can be updated, but these days, such bounces are extremely rare so if one is getting a lot of spam to the list-bounces address, setting bounce_unrecognized_goes_to_list_owner => no makes sense. On $LIST-bounces I'm mostly getting mails that should go to the list address, sinc ethe users somehow managed to bookmark their VERPidfied sender address as "list address" Blame their email client’s ‘recently seen addresses’ list; Outlook is particularly adept at this, since many of our lists are moderated, or member-only and the ‘Your email is awaiting approval’ messages come from the [listname]-bounces address. They start typing the address in the To: line and it will autofill, and they don’t notice the ‘-bounces’ part while the actual address is visible instead of the name the client conjures up for it. -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs ------------------------------------------------------ Mailman-Users mailing list -- mailman-users@python.org To unsubscribe send an email to mailman-users-le...@python.org https://mail.python.org/mailman3/lists/mailman-users.python.org/ Mailman FAQ: http://wiki.list.org/x/AgA3 Security Policy: http://wiki.list.org/x/QIA9 Searchable Archives: https://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users@python.org/ https://mail.python.org/archives/list/mailman-users@python.org/ Member address: arch...@jab.org
