describe exactly what you are trying to do?
In my case I have no another IMAP account, I just need the possibility
to use (Google Apps specific) another From address. Google idea of
this feature is described here:

In MailMate you can have a comma-separated list of email addresses in
the account settings. Then the From popup in the Composer allows you to
select an address.
