I see the same issue; it seemed to start after I applied the 10.9.1
update, but I wouldn't swear to that.

It's Acrobat Pro that I have installed. However, because Acrobat and
Reader are virtually mandatory installations for many people
(especially in workplaces), and because Finder has no problem
displaying a useful QuickLook window for PDF documents, I hope you
will look into the problem!
Nevertheless, maybe you could look into disabling Acrobat Pro and see
if that makes a difference. (I assume you do not have any problems
with other types of attachments.)
I'm not saying I don't think you should be able to use Acrobat Pro.
I'm just looking for what triggers the problem.
