I can give you my personal assurance that if I did get such an order then I would rather stop working on MailMate than follow the order. But I don't think they even know that MailMate exists :-)

In general, email clients do involve a lot of trust. That's very hard to avoid since they must have access to IMAP/SMTP servers...
