You can try enabling some debug code and launch MailMate from a Terminal
window. It works like this:
defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmDebugSecurity -bool YES
/Applications/MailMate.app/Contents/MacOS/MailMate
Then try again and see if the output is helpful in any way.
