Actually, now I remember what I did. I have a macro in AirMail that
files a message to OmniFocus and then archives it. It looks like I
starred it, then did that. And I guess in the GMail context, "Archive"
means "remove it from everything except All Mail" as opposed to "put it
in an archive folder".

According to AIrMail, it's in "All Mail" and "Starred". And indeed on
the gmail website I can find it in "Starred" section. But it's not in
the "Flagged" folder on MailMate, nor Archive, nor Deleted Messages.
Other items I starred show up in "Flagged", but of course they are
also in some folder rather than "All Mail".
I'm trying to figure out a Gmail search that can find these stranded
items. Any thoughts on what might have caused it?
