Ditto - though in my case it's just one message. Been meaning to
write in about that.
You can try selecting the “All Messages” mailbox and then enable
the “Pending Submission” column. Sort by this column to see if you
can find anything suspicious. If you do find it then note anything
interesting about it before deleting it. (I'd like to know how these
messages came into existence.)
I have three emails with a date in pending submission.
1 from two weeks ago which was just a random test mail I wrote
(approximately when I started having the issue) and 2 others from back
in 2017 which is a long time ago :)
None of them shows up in outbox.
