Sounds like MailMate has trouble running external scripts. It runs a
script to generate HTML for the message display when it displays a plain
text message. This doesn't happen for HTML messages.
I assume you have tried relaunching MailMate, but I guess it could be a
system issue in which case you should also try rebooting the machine.
If this does not help then try opening a Terminal window and run
MailMate like this:
/Applications/MailMate.app/Contents/MacOS/MailMate
That might reveal errors when trying to display a plain text email. You
can send the result off list since it might contain personal data.
