I've noticed something similar in 5763 as well, I think with tags. I
can't reproduce it right now, but there were certain situations where
the menu would show nothing unless I went and made sure the message had
focus. Even though it was clearly the current message. I'll try to
reproduce it next time it happens.

Hmmm, that might explain the erratic behavior I've noticed (after I
posted my original message): sometimes it works, sometimes it
doesn't...
