Preside is working well for me with GMail.
It really is an astoundingly good piece of software…almost beyond-human-seeming in what it is able to do…the most MailMate-like of any iOS app.

Hi Henry,

honestly, I don’t know. Like Alain said, “them” is basically just Rich. He usually answers support requests fairly quickly and thoroughly, which is my experience as well, so I’m not sure why he didn’t/couldn’t help you with this. Maybe just try writing another support mail?

Gmail is not my primary mail account, but I have it set up in Preside and never had any problems with it. How did you try to import your existing account? Do you mean you had it previously set up in iOS Mail?

Cheers
Stephan

Stephen,

Any idea what is going on in Preside? I sent in a support request to them about an issue with Google Mail (gmail).

I tried it with my Google (gmail) account and it was a bust. Preside refused to accept the OAUTH login info from Google and quit at that step in their instructions. Also would not import existing accounts in any way.

So, I’m kinda done there.

Respectfully,

The one thing that I sorely miss in Preside is PGP signing and encryption support. Other than that, it‘s really, really powerful. You won‘t get any closer to MailMate with an email client on a mobile device.

Interesting, I missed this piece. I am a heavy user of Preside (never got used to Altamail), which I also find the closest thing to Mailmate on an iPhone. In particular its Search function is pretty impressive. In addition, its developer, Rich Waters, answers queries very quickly. He mentioned he is a also a single-person ‘team’, and he interacted
with Benny in the past.

PS : I had problems with Preside because of my Exchange server, but
Exchange is problematic with all email clients, including Mailmate.

Benny has said “No” to an iOS version numerous times in the past.
