Well, a day of troubleshooting and I figured it out.
There was a formatString plist entry from previous beta that was a test.
I don’t know if that feature dead-ended or not, but having the
specifiers.plist file around at all causes the crash on any post 5898
build.
Nuking that file allows current beta 5918 to successfully launch.

Ethan

Clarification: Any build after 5898 crashes. That’s where I’m
stuck. So I can’t move to 5918.
I appreciate the link to the manual but rebuild was about the first
thing I tried moving to a build later than 5898, no joy.
Migrating with existing plist files also fails. I’m looking for any
different approach to identifying the issue. Currently I’m taking a
bisect approach and a/b testing with and without specific settings but
it’s a slog.

Ethan,
Well, yes, you should likely rebuild. You can export your settings as
described in Menu>Mailmate Help>Rebuild Database>How to transfer… &
in the more complete web-based [User
Manual](https://manual.mailmate-app.com/) (same section). Some may
have other suggestions on point to your issue. I find the bootstrap
re-install effective on thorny issues like yours.
The advantages are three-fold:
1. Gets rid of any kinks that may have crept into the MM install (you
could uninstall completely and then re-install to be even more sure).
2. Makes it sooo much easier than recreating all. You could also
reinstall the MM Accounts, however I haven’t done that in a while.
3. You could same the time effectively to go directly to the latest
Build (5920).
Good luck.

Currently facing an issue: any build after 5918 crashes immediately

I’m assuming that something in my plists is crashing subsequent
builds (but hey it could be something else).
Is my only option a manual uninstall and rebuild? I’d like to
avoid that but I’m at a loss for best steps otherwise.
