My understanding those are e-mails with Rights-Managed Email Object
Protocol enabled.
This is a proprietary Microsoft format - your only bet is to use Outlook
(not even sure the Mac version does know about it) or OWA.

I mean, many companies are using this office stuff, and I would go

This smells a bit like an intended MS strategy to push more and more
people into their ecosystem by making things not working together,
while activating encryption by default for all customers.
