Hi Paul,
Not familiar with nor use Proton Mail, so pardon my ignorance. I
investigated Proton Mail and found it interesting and a standalone
service though they have integration with other services. There are some
facets to using multiple layers of email clients and source accounts
that you apparently are investigating here.
Perhaps you can answer why you are using this combo of client and secure
server application with MailMate? Certain settings for non-Proton
clients may be needed.
Benny can answer whether it is compatible with the the integral
encryption and server accounts in your IMAP and SMTP services. It is not
listed as supported in Bridge, however that may not be confirmed that it
isn’t either. You might need to supply some more information about
what version of MM you are using to determine that.
Are you using Proton Bridge application for specific email apps like
MailMate? I see that it’s [recommended in certain
cases](https://proton.me/support/clients-supported-bridge) for other
email client apps. I suspect that it therefore may be needed to operate
with those email clients and MailMate may be one such. Proton claims not
to have tested MM in Bridge, but they might have insights as to why.
In my use case MailMate application installation operates just fine with
10 source accounts of varying types (iCloud, Google, Outlook/Windows
Live, Yahoo, and commercial servers). The details are below.
You can submit this to Benny directly at his [feedback
page](mailto:mm-feedb...@freron.com) if you don’t wish to share it
here publicly.
My system: MailMate/6241/282BCB28-893E-51E7-891E-F3272BC540D1
15.4.0/arm64/MacBookPro18,3/10
Also as to encryption (which Proton makes a big deal about supporting),
I have used publicly available encryption S/MIME and PGP which are
commercially available and supported in MM, but have encountered some
issues with handling encrypted and signed email stored in the Drafts
Folder with latest versions.
This issue is being addressed by the Developer. I see they support PGPjs
and do not know if MailMate actively supports this service or how (if?)
it operates with MM.
Respectfully,
Henry Seiden
