I'm seeing similar delivery failures for attempts from University of
Iowa email servers:

Connecting to smtp.mchsi.com. via esmtp...
Deferred: Connection reset by smtp.mchsi.com.
Closing connection to smtp.mchsi.com.

I checked two Mediacom support forums and only see mention of outgoing
email issues in the last few weeks for some folks; no mention of
incoming email issues.

I sent a note to a Mediacom support contact on dslreports.com and am
awaiting a response.
