This is not what you asked for, but in my experience if you want to deliver SMS messages more than one or two at a time, you should use an SMS service rather than depending on the free gateways the carriers provide. The free gateways are of course hammered with spam, so it's not surprising if they block anything that smells even a little bit bulky. It's not hard to find http->SMS for under 1c/message.
