As far as I remember, 'a' does just specify ip address without specifying the protocol version. So if a hostname is ipv4/ipv6 dual stack, 'a' includes all ipv4 and ipv6 addresses that hostname ressource resolved to. So this should not fail. But I don't know if specific SPF checking implementations might fail of they get an excessively large amount of ip addresses in the reply.
