M3AAWG just finished, so this is a good time to talk about this, when it is fresh on everyone's minds.

Some EMS operators are much better than others in PTR naming conventions in my mind, by making it very clear what they are doing. AS long as they don't abuse that 'trust' they build up based on the PTR naming convention, it is really helpful for those who want to make sure that legitimate email always gets to the in box.

And we are usually very critical of the bad guys, but we should also do a shout out to those that set good examples for others.. And it is Fraud Awareness month, so making sure your PTR records are good, prevent them from being confused with 'phishing' domains.

(Comments are welcome, and if you have any other good examples which exemplify best practices, feel free to share)

Responsys:

Looking at these it is quite easy to see which ones are transactional mailers.. Kudo's.. And it reflects the organization.. (BTW, High numbers in this list reflect dirty lists, eg a lot of addresses no longer valid)

SendGrid: (Other than their shared email servers.. ;)

Not quite as good, would be better if the domains were e.pricesmartfood.ca, otherwise someone might think they are 'phishing' domains.. And using dotted quad notation in a PTR that is used for a mail server is going to get you in trouble with a lot of filters.
