YES! Michael Wise is part of the solution, doing MUCH good, he shouldn't be held responsible for everything good or bad about Microsoft (he is just one of many there), and he is often just "the messenger". We should be grateful for his participation in our communities!

ALSO - this is a subset of a larger issue regarding larger tech companies trending towards worse abuse handling, especially in the past several months when many of them made major changes in their systems to off-load more of their abuse handling (and spam filtering!) to AI systems - with strong directives coming from above telling them, "if it doesn't scale, either don't do it, unless you can get our shiny new AI system to do it for you". But this isn't working nearly as well as intended. AI without a human touch is falling short. The most dramatic impact of this was probably in Google's systems, although this is happening at many of the largest tech companies. This has caused a slight uptick in false positives in Google's system (which was already a slight long-term problem in their email systems), along with worse abuse prevention/mitigation. Although, their spam filter is blocking a lot more of certain types of spams that were previously missed - but that is a small consolation to the rest of us who are getting more spams and abuse either sent from Google's systems or hosted at Google. (eg, phishes hosted at google drive, etc)

NOTE: There are many good people at these tech companies doing their best to improve things - THEY are NOT the problem - the problem is that overly relying on AI isn't cutting it, and these people need to have larger budgets and more employees in their departments! That needs to be prioritized over profits and shareholders!

I mentioned this general trend on my linkedin page earlier today here:
