Years and years ago, we built one.. and pulled it.. It was just helping
the spammers ;)
But seriously, if you are sending billions of emails out, I think you can ..
* Afford a commercial product
* Afford to contribute to an open source product
Even thought of throwing some money at a couple of open source
developers on say the Postfix team to help it scale?
(hope this isn't one of those cases of.. confuse open source with free
questions ;)
Or even better yet, start an open source project.. the more
alternatives, the better the world is..
And on that note..
"Hey Big Senders" .. (note not big spenders)
Please stop asking us to report bad actors on your networks for free,
spend a little money and thank those that are doing your job for you.
(Yea, I stole his thread)

Okay, now everyone can jump in .. I am sure there are hundreds of
smaller opensource projects that quietly exist out there.

For those of you who are on the sending side, managing at least a few
billion outbound per month, what is the current feeling on open source mtas?
My understanding is that most of us have tried Postfix at some point and
moved to a commercial product like PowerMTA, Momentum, Cloudmark, Green
Arrow, MailerQ because Postfix didn't scale flexibly enough when you
manage hundreds or thousands of IPs/domains/queues/mail streams each
with very specific sending settings.
Is the general understanding still that no open source products can give
the commercial mtas a run for their money?
Thanks,
Alex
