Exactly this. GDPR does absolutely not require that this data should be anonymized. It is enough that during domian registration the registry requires your consent to publish data in the WHOIS database and refuses to register domain if you don't agree to have your data published. This is absolutely compliant with the GDPR, because it's pretty easy for the registry to explain why publication of this data is needed (you all have already explained it very well in this thread). It's just a poor implementation or mis-interpretation of GDPR that I was writing about in my previous mail.
