The issue in short: automatic mail forwarding sporadically fails from
GMX mail-out servers with claims that "multiple delivery attempts
failed" since the beginning of November.
Yet, grey listing is now switched off for all known GMX mail-out
servers, 2nd MXer for the zone is also temporary switched off. Last, but
not least: no traces of any delivery attempts for these fails in the logs.
I'd like to see this erratic behavour tracked down and solved.
