That's not what I see from here.
https://xnnd.com/dns.cgi?t=a&d=list-manage.com
list-manage.com has address 205.201.132.96
And when you go to https://list-manage.com, you get a notice that this
is a Mailchimp domain.

> It has a single MX record pointed at:
> mail.admin.mailchimp.com
> That hostname exists, but it doesn't have an A RECORD.
> It in turn has just a single MX Record.

It is true that this weird MX config means nobody can mail
[email protected], but also, I see no evidence in the wild that any
mail is sent as the top level domain of list-manage.com. I don't even
see subdomains of it showing up in my last 90ish days of spamtraps.

It appears that Mailchimp uses subdomains under list-manage.com for
click tracking (and possibly image hosting). I see ample evidence of
this in my email streams.

Their return-path domains tend to look more like this -- here's an
example one: mail235.atl271.mcdlv.net
spamtrap@server:~/log$ host -ta mail235.atl271.mcdlv.net
mail235.atl271.mcdlv.net has address 198.2.142.235
spamtrap@ server:~/log$ host -tmx mail235.atl271.mcdlv.net
mail235.atl271.mcdlv.net mail is handled by 10 inbound-mx1.mailchimpapp.net.
spamtrap@ server:~/log$ host inbound-mx1.mailchimpapp.net.
inbound-mx1.mailchimpapp.net has address 148.105.251.24
Those do seem to have properly configured DNS so that async bounces
coming back to addresses at that domain would indeed reach
inbound-mx1.mailchimpapp.net.

So...what? why? What's the concern here again? This really isn't
making sense to me.

Cheers,
Al Iverson
