Hello all,

I'm wondering whether anyone else has experienced what seems to be a strange rejection policy at Yahoo.

Firstly a big shout out to the Yahoo support team - whilst they couldn't resolve this issue, they did at least make it possible to speak to them and they did try and help.

The problem, in short, is that when delivering list emails, Yahoo requires the header-from email address to be rewritten for some domains but not others (regardless of DMARC policy).

For example, if an email is sent with a header-from of hotmail.com and DKIM-signed with the domain of the sender header, then this is delivered and accepted fine. If the exact same email is sent from hotmail.co.uk (with same arrangement of DKIM signature) then it is rejected with an authorization failure. Both domains have the same DMARC policy and are obviously the same provider.

This is making it very difficult to know which email addresses to rewrite. The vast majority that we deliver to Yahoo are accepted without any problem (99.9%). But a tiny percentage for some more obscure domains are not.

Sure, we could rewrite all emails that are being delivered to Yahoo, but that seems overkill for such a small percentage of failures.

The list of domains does not appear to be published anywhere, so it's impossible to know which ones to rewrite and which ones not (other than trial and error).

Has anyone else observed this and/or is anyone from Yahoo able to comment?

Many thanks,

Andy
